It's going to be interesting to see how the weight bias will change and how much when it finished?

With the back half of the roof going and some aditional stuff like seats that should loose some weight and lower the center of gravity a bit...a good thing for sure.
We'll probably need to make some structual adjustments for the chassis to keeep the torsal strenght up to BMW standards so some weight will be added back?.

If we lenghten the wheel base about 8 inches that should pull the COG back a bit more to the center of the ute and give/keep the car great BMW M5 balance.
There are a few "I don't knows" in this project, but I'm very happy that it will be one great finished product in 07.

You guys know who makes a 20mm wheel spacer for the M5?
I'm going to widen the rear about 25mm per side and if I get the Neez wheel in a 20 they only come only is certain off set sizes.
The best match would be the largest off set of 25mm, so the same as what I've got now.
It's a 20/10.5/25mm rim V's my BBS LM 19/10/25mm so getting a spacer of about 18 - 20mm will give me that 25mm wider stance then what I've got now.

H&R make spacers with the original BMW self-centering hubs for the E39 M5.

(use product search on the top-right)

Getting good quality spacers is important to avoid vibrations at speed.

Thanks Kees
I couldn't seem to find what I was looking for...hmm
It was pretty busy with info, but I couldn't nail a 20mm spacer down on the site...hmm
It looks like the DRA spacer would be good as it bolts directly to the hub then you can use the current bolts to pin the wheel to the new spacer....sounds strong.
Cheers APPLES

Apples this is great! Do you plan on having a hard tonneau cover over the rear?

You should really incorporate something like this in the back. Especially for you...

That is just a quick example but I think you get the idea. It would be the final step in have a true M5 Ute.

Cant wait to see the final product.

Also, the H&R wheel spacer that you want is part number 2075740. The DR. It would be better to bolt the wheels to the original hubs rather than having the spacer bolt to the hub and then the wheels bolt into the spacer. Only issue that might arise is the need to use lengthed wheel bolts to accommodate the extra 20mm. Hope that helps.

Actually the website of the US distributor for H&R is much better for finding the available products you need:
