^^Thanks Sammy. I kind of get the sense that people are applauding this guys valiant efforts (to say the least) for the reason being that he is some sort of celebrity.
I've read posts where people go crazy when cars look ricer. While I’m not a fan of the ricer look, at least ricer cars retain their form.
Heck, there are even long debates over simple things such as de-badging the m5 lol. This, however, isn't modifying, it’s butchering.

If you read the whole thread, it makes perfect sense. These "Utes" are apparently a big deal in Australia, and Apples, a local celebrity, will have the baddest one *down under*. This car's *already* causing a *world-wide* stir- and it isn't close to being finished! If anything, it'll bring attention to the E-39 M5. Wouldn't surprise me to see it in a few car mags when it's done. Why is it ok to chop up old Caddy's, Mercs, Fords, etc, but if someone chops up an M5 it's some kinda sacriledge?
The automotive press, and most other people, LOVE the Audi TT. "Gorgeous!". I think it's butt-ugly. TO each his own.

^^Who said chopping up an M5 is sacreligious? And what worldwide hysteria is this causing that I am unaware of?
Based on your confidence, when its all said and done I'm sure his car will come out so aggressive, so breathtaking, so magnificent, and so beautiful that every M5 owner around the world will be dying to do that to their car. Every car magazine will rush to have it on the cover of their magazine. And car fanatics worldwide will finally appreciate and understand what an M5 is and is capable of doing, or to put it more precisely, becoming. C'mon, get real.
If he wants to turn the m5 into a van/truck/helicopter/boat/whatever, then all power to him. Then again, I wouldn't do what he did to a Toyota Corolla to be honest with you.
Ute or no ute I don't understand the logic behind this project. I'm glad we can agree "to each his own." Quite frankly, the stages of the car, as is, aren't impressing me - to put it in politically correct terms. I'm not going to label anybody but please, if your reading this you know who you are; stop drinking the kool aid.

I think you either have to be an Australian, or perhaps understand Australian culture a little to 'get it'.
But at least he didn't do it to something rare and handbuilt - like an E34 M5 - those old E39's are a dime a dozen - even here in Australia

Read the thread. He's been called worse.

Who said that? Read what I wrote again. The fact that you in NY, and me in CA are discussing a car in Australia basically makes my point.

What the hell are you smoking? Did I ever say it was ANY of those things? I don't even *like* it (but I'll withold judgement until I see the finished product...and even then it may be one of those "have to see it in person" things).

That photochop is nice. That dude is doing a fantastic job. I saw a pic of ute that was done in S. Africa out of an e34. It was painted Yellow. I'll try and find it.
Personally I wouldn't do that to my car, but judging from the pictures it looks pretty darn good. Can't wait to see the finished results. Kind of scary seeing the M5 all chopped up like that. I could never subject that kind of chopping and welding to my E39. Your concepts looked fantastic too.
