Wow...just wow! This project is really progressing and it's great to see! I can't wait to see the finished product, simply amazing.

Maybe I missed it in previous posts, but any decision on what the final set of wheels will be?...size, finish, etc...

Looking good Apples, keep up the good work and the updated photos.

Still some more thinking to be done on what CF direction I go on different areas of the ute.

The OEM sunroof is very heavy, so loosing some weight up high is pretty important.

When it's all done the roll center will be much lower and the overall package will be stiffer for better performance the stock.

-Just a thought, but you could also go with a stock-look (or GTR) carbon composite M5 hood to help balance the car's weight.

Such a pity you can't just buy an M5 uterus just "off the shelf". No way would I have the patience to wait for the custom job. I guess being away from the shed for most of the year would make the time fly.
You must still be waiting excitedly for it to finish Apples. Could easily fit a few sets of clubs in the back there.

I've got a couple of the GTR vents on order for the OZ Ute and my US M5.

I'm seriously thinking of running with a CF theme from the hood the roof and the rear cargo cover.

I'm going to see what the guys at EVO Sport can come up with as their getting the GTR vents organized.

Not exactly sure on the wheels, my choices are to keep with a wheel that's more BMW in styling or go very aftermarket.
The size will be 19's front and 20's rear.
Rear will be between 305/25/20 and 325/25/20.
A guy in Bridgestone Motorsport tire division has made an offer to make a tire for the ute as the biggest one they make is a 285.
They have mentioned to me that they would like to have the ute at the 08 Chicago auto show as promotion for their tires.

I'm happy to wait for the ute to be finished in 07, but I want it rolling out the door by the end of Sept.

This is a photoshop job from my blue M5 in the US to the color I'll be running with (black.
The wheels are HRE 840 the ones I've got on the Gallardo Lambo.

-Looking great! I do think the wheels are 1" too big. It looks more like a "show" car than a "real" car. It'll look great either way, I just personally prefer less bling. Good job, keep the pics coming!

That doctored pic is actually 4-5 inches shorter then the final version will be so the bigger rear wheel look won't be a strong with the longer rear section to soften this out there.

On the Ute 20 in the rear won't be out of place at all with the lower longer final look.

I've got 19's on my US M5 and they look very normal by today standards.

The HRE spoke look is very much down the BMW factory style, that's why I've looked at them so far.

Remember this is a one off car/ute so it needs to be different but not tacky at all....no Bling Bling.
Something down the BMW cues would be good.

I'll get in to picking wheels when the time gets closer anyway.

The photoshop pic does look mean, really whets the appetite for final roll out. Nice rims too.

I forgot to mention that the side door handles will be deleted and the trim on the panels as well won't be there.
A rear section B pillar custon piece of glass will go in...looks better then the vlack out in the pic.
It's stance (ride height) would be about the same as the pic, but with the longer legs it will make it look lower.
It gives a fair impression of how it will look in the end.

Hey Apples,
Good to see you're still focused on this project and keeping us up to date, in particular since you're in the middle of the Tour Championship this weekend! Several of us enjoyed following you Friday and good luck in today's round.
