I hate the DMV!

It truly never ceases to amaze me how stupid the collective whole of DMV employees is. Called when I was getting ready to buy my beast to get some basics of what I need to transfer title, etc. Was told bring in title, go to the office, have a level one inspection done (free) and pick up my plates on the spot. No emmisions neccessary. Go in today - thinking im early 8:00 am this will be a 10 minute excercise. No line. Get to the counter. Inspection: I have to wait an hour for fat DMV employee to get out and perform inspection. What a joke. She looks at the exhaust, tires and windshield. Thats the whole thing. Takes all of 30 seconds. Go back inside and get into now longer line to get a ticket. Get to counter. Am told by punk kid behind counter that I need an emmisions test. Told him that I was informed otherwise by their level 2 phone support. Says "Well, you were misinformed brotha!" Wow. That was professional. Drive 5 miles to inspection station. Pony up $30 for ODBII download. No actual "test". Get back to DMV. Wait in now HUGE line for ticket. Get ticket and am told about a 2 hour wait. I've alread wasted my morning so I bail. Did I mention that I HATE the DMV????!!!???

DMV ...

Ugh ... sounds like the California DMV ... they should all have to stand in line, single file, every morning when they come to work (did I say, "Work?") ... in line, single file, when they go to the bathroom ... in line, single file, when they go to lunch ... in line, single file, when they come back from their extended lunch break (the most work they have done all day ... lunch, that is), and in line, single file, when they are "ready" to go home ...

Wellcome, to the world of the "drones ..."

I know that AAA in CA does offer some DMV services, might just be for registering a new car but can't hurt to call them. And when I do to go the DMZ, I always make an appt online: https://eg.dmv.ca.gov/foAppt/Welcome.jsp

Good luck and bring a book.

we dont have inspections or emission testing in SC. I have found we can do most stuff online. But, if i have to go to the DMV, I usually talk my wife into it(I can only do that about once every two years) or a pay an employee to go stand in line! Comes out cheaper than me taking the time off. I may end up going postal if I had to waste an entire morning dealing with that CA b.s. No wonder the economy is in the tank....everyone is standing in line and cant get any work done, while paying for a bunch of morons to punch a keyboard. No private sector business could survive any time with that kind of service...so why do we allow ourselves to keep it going? Years ago we in SC did a lot of complaining about the DMV and it got significantly better, especially doing stuff online. Call and complain would be my advice...you may feel better even if nothing changes!

Actually, I don't go to the DMV, unless the AAA doesn't do what I need ... but, I do, ocassionally, have to go ... even with the appointments there are delays ... as emccallum said ...

"No private sector business could survive any time with that kind of service...so why do we allow ourselves to keep it going?"

AMEN.

Hey, sounds like Arizona has contracted its DMV operations from California. Must be a great job for lazy dummies!

Sounds like the DMV in CT! I called the DMW and asked a question, they asked me for my plate number to pull me up on the computer. So I tell her and she repeats it back ".........and that was 'K' as in CAT???" UUUUHHHHH no "K" as in Kite!!! and yes these brainiacs are state employees

State employees with great benefits, early retirement plans, loads of paid holidays (even when they fall on a Sunday), easy job load, power over people, and most importantly great job security and a chance for permanent disabilty from paper cuts. Maybe I be the dumb one for not applying !

You know, Ernest ... you have something there ... why didn't I become a DMV employee?
