I just had my M5's windows tinted by the same shop (Western Glass Tint) that did my wife's 540iT. Keep in mind the pictures were taken at different times of day, there was more backlight when I took the pics after tint.

Here are the two cars together in the garage. They both have 50, 32, 22 charcoal tint darkening toward the rear.

nice car but, i don't care for the different shades from frt/back. but i know it's legal tint up front. red is my favorite color, again nice car,i'm not bagging on your tinting, just giving my thoughts...

i do not think it's legal to have the tint in the front in california, so going with a lighter shade for the front door windows could decrease your chances of trouble. (or did you mean "i know it's ILlegal to tint up front" in your reply?)

i thought you can tint the fronts to 20 % in washington state/ i don't know about Cali.

In CA, fronts have to be 70% (very light). I went with the 50, 32, 22 to hide the 50, and because I like the graduated effect. There is less contrast between the front windshield and the side windows this way.
