This should be fun... can't wait to see the posts!

1) Search Function
2) Very much dependent on personal preference.
3) Consensus seems to be the UUC ssk & DSSR or the RE ssk & WSR.
4) I went with the UUC setup and am extremely happy- shorter throws, precise shifts, no increase in effort- nothing negative at all to say!

Same thoughts EXACTLY. Decided someone else could do it. Jason beat me to the punch over on the "clutch" post.

I did the UUC/DSSR - got a really killer deal so it wasn't much more than the RE. Transforms the shifting.

DSSR?

I have a UUC short shifter but do not have the DSSR. How much of a difference will this make. Is it worth it?
Thanks.

I have a Rogue Short Shifter. Installed myself (and I'm not all that knowledgable or experienced in cars). It works great. Really makes a noticable difference in the driving experience. I suggest buying from Zeckhausen, www.zeckhausen.com-- great product support and technical assistance.

I think that would be hard to say w/o a direct comparison of side by side vehicles. I think most who have DSSR have bought and installed them at the same time so how would we know really? I do know this, the DSSR is machined extremely well for a tight fit, has nice bearings and is far more "substancial" than the stock selector rod.

I did too, got the "Holiday Special" at Christmas time so DSSR was 1/2 price.

I had installed the Rogue with the WSR and liked it very much. I then uninstalled it (long story that I posted in another thread last year) and then I replaced it with the UUC EVO 3 and the DSSR and love it. I prefer the UUC setup over the Rogue. If cost is a major consideration, then get the Rogue...you won't be disappointed. If cost is not a significant issue, I would recommend the UUC for its robustness, engineering design, slightly superior "feel", and adjustable shifter height (most of us have it set to the shortest height). Ideally, you may be able to find M5 owners in your area with either setup and try them out before making your decision.

I had a Rogue WSR shear the transmission end right off and leave me stranded 1000 miles from home. This time, I ordered the UUC Evo 3, and am going to try it for a while without the selector rod. I think the factory rod is pretty good, I certainly don't think it would have failed like the WSR did.
