2000 M5 owners...extended warranty questions

My 2000/05 is due to arrive any day now, it still has its CPO warranty until the end of May 06, but I'd like to buy an extended warranty for it just to minimize my risk/reward on the car. The car was inspected at the dealership and they said it is perfect, but w/ 48K miles on it, I've read that carbon and Vanos issues could rear their head in over the next few years.
Has anyone had these issues come up under an extened warranty other then one from BMW and were they covered? if so, who did you use for the warranty? are there any companies to avoid?

Thanks
