sunday decmeber 25th at 2:30am i was driving on Colverdale rd near hwy 1 when during spirited driving I lost control because I was going too fast and my beast ended up airbourne from 8 feet in to and thru someone's shed in their backyard. i am very glad to be alive as i missed a tree on both sode by 1 feet each. if i had hit either tree i would not be writing this thread. regarding my previous thread about parting with my beast, that was just to get inputs from everyone. now i guess i don't have a choice, i will not try to replace my beast as that car was special and exteremly sad to see it go. the car has been totaled and i will post pictures as soon as i go down to the yard and take pictures. i have come to love this board and all the events that i have been a part of. this maybe my last post. thank you all for all the advise and help you have given me during the last year. please invite me to any bay area m5 gatherings in the future.
Great of you to be so honest about what happened...many of us have been there at one time or another so this is a sobering reminder to exercise good judgement...the important thing is you're OK. Good luck!

I just got back from X'mas vacation at downtown San Francisco, was it raining during that time? Because it rained on Sunday when we were on the way to Napa valley, rained pretty darn hard.
Sorry to hear about the incident, glad you are okay.
I've been all over the bay in the last few days, and it has been pouring! Good to hear you made it out safe and sound though.
Sorry to hear about the beast. Hind sight is 20/20, but hopefully this lesson can be applied to the future.
That is a horrible thing to hear. Glad you are allright and that no one was injured. xx mph on public roads is definitely not a good idea, if someone else's life had been lost because of your recklessness, you would not be able to live with yourself. I guess that is the parent in me talking.
Sal, I suspect the car saved your life. Even if you missed the tree, in a lesser car given the speed and conditions you might very well not be here to tell us about it. I hope as time passes you will be able to tell us more, for the benefit of everyone. I'm glad you're OK - you are now a wiser man.
Would you mind calling your insurance carrier and asking them what the buyout price is for them to turn the title over to you? It may be around $10K. You could post the number here, in case it's worth someone jumping on it.
Several folks are looking for used motors and such. The motor and tranny are worth $15K alone, assuming no damage.
I am terribly sorry to hear about your accident but glad to see you are in one peice. I shunt at that speed is quite dangerous and devastating no matter what you hit. You are lucky to be alive (as greg said I am sure the M5 had something to do with that). Best of luck with the insurance company and please keep up updated as to what you decide to do for the next vehicle.
Having lost my M5 to an accident in January, I can sympathesize with your predicament. I hope you don't have any soft-tissue injuries as those can hang on for a few months.
Also hope the insurance company plays fair (mine did) and you can get the settlement over with shortly. Then I guess it's time to hunt for the F430 or the Lambo. Please post pics when you get one so we can drool all over our key borads.
Hope 2006 is a much better year for you. Don't be a stranger, we always appreciate your posts and hospitality.
What made you lose control?? where you going through a turn that was bumpy??
Also....2:30 am..... isn't that usually when most people start coming home from the club/bar......... Hopefully you being the designated driver...saved your life!!
Wow Sal, like others have said, glad you came out ok, too bad about the car, but it's just a car. Hope to still see you around at the 'bay area m5 club' meetings, since you put it together!
Mike
I thank you all for all your kind words and concern. your support means a lot, and your kind words are dearly appreciated. I will do a full write on exactly what happened when i have the time to write it. I will also get pictures of the car asap. i will let you guys/gals know what i decide to get as a replacement for the beast. i could never really replace the beast.
you should see if you can at least get some of your parts off the car to try to get a little money back for all of those recent mods... You know your insurance co. is not going to pay you for them.
Mike
