So of the two, the second one has been in an accident, right? I caught that also. Carfax makes it so hard to tell....some oblique language like "Collision Repair Facility Vehicle inspected after an accident or other incident"... why list an "inspection" and not "repairs or damage"??

In writing this I was going to use the phrase "the first one looks clean" but didn't want to since carfax is such a useless report- a clean carfax is useless. A dirty carfax means you can stop looking, whereas a clean one just means 'keep researching'...

This is from the first report:

"Report Summary
1. ACCIDENT CHECK

Total Loss Check No Severe Accidents Reported by a DMV - Buyback Guarantee!
Other Accident Indicators No Accident Indicators Reported
2. MILEAGE ACCURACY CHECK "

The part highligted in blue indicates that the first car had no accidents reported. As I said in an earlier post this doesn't guarantee no accidents. Just none reported.

This is from the second report:

Report Summary
1. ACCIDENT CHECK

Total Loss Check No Severe Accidents Reported by a DMV - Buyback Guarantee!
Other Accident Indicators Accident Indicator Reported

Notice the slight difference in wording.

On my '95 540i, I thought the body shop did an excellent job even though they had to straighten the frame. It did not show up on the carfax report, but the place where I traded the car, it was noted by them.

I see that difference I was confused by an earlier post, thank you.
