Sat Nav Question

I currently have the BMW Business Radio CD system in my car. If I install the Sat Nav head unit only, (either the small screen head unit or large 16:9 one) will it work?? Obviously I understand that the Navigation wont because I would need the rest of the kit, but just wondering would the Radio, screen etc work and light up??

Re: Sat Nav Question

It might because you could order the TV option with sat nav. Hopefully someone here will back me up.

Re: Sat Nav Question

Thats interesting?? I'm thinking about buying either the small screen or large 16:9 screen to have a go, if I can find one cheap enough.

Re: Sat Nav Question

Sorry i meant to say tv WITHOUT sat nav. So you could have either screen with no sat nav.

Re: Sat Nav Question

OH OK!! That would be fine too. My Business System is starting to go pixels etc, so I was thinking of buying the screen and seeing if it would do the same thing (Play radio, play tape or cd and computer) plus it would be minus the massive expense of retro fitting the entire sat nav system. It could maybe be possibe then down the line to hook up a dvd player or something.

Solution?

Hiyah!

Did anybody actually know the answer to his question?
I also have the non-nav edition of M5 and would like to achieve the same thing; play radio/cd (and soon iPod) over a 16:9 screen...

It should work, I think.

I have had my nav unit disconnected while using the screen for stereo things, whilst installing the stereo.

The screen works fine for radio, CD, and the on-board computer. However, the typeface/screen layout is very different and looks nowhere near as lovely as the cool blue that you get with Nav installed.

Hope this helps mate.

Well, thanx for the info

Only way for me to spend money on a complete NAV unit is if I can get it from a wrecked M5...
I think $2000+ on eBay is way to much, and to much risk too...

Rgds,
