Does anybody have a m audio for sale for a good price
I think I want to upgrade the nokia sub
And how much are the shipings to Holland???
Divere,
I would suggest you search some old threads and then decide if you really want to upgrade to M-Audio subs. In my opinion (and I have heard them in person), they are a slight improvement over the non-M models and if you enjoy music, you are better off getting a 'real' self (i.e. additional amp) powered subwoofer. And also decide if you want open air, which certainly compromises sound quality over an enclosed set up.
I have been looking to upgrade my audio system, the first thing I will do is throw out the paper Nokia speakers, likely with MB Quart of JL Audio ones. I will not be replacing my stock amp, is it is too involved and pricey. But since the weakest link are the speakers, you get a good bang for your music buck by doing that.
Stage 2 for me would be to add a amp powered enclosed sub, either a single 12 inch or a dual 10. Will be going around a few audop pro shops before I decide was is the best setup.
For another opinion, i'll say i did install M audio subs in my 00 car and felt it was a great improvement (especially considering it cost about $100 and took maybe an hour to install). I'm not an audiophile, but felt the factory 00 system was pretty poor. I'm much happier with the addition of the M audio subs in place of the nokia 5.25" "subs."

That is a good option you mention
So can you put any other speaker in the nokia box or is it a speciaal one bacause of the DSP system
Than I first try this mod and see how the sound is
I think the sound is not the bad with the nokia subs but if you turn the volume up the bass disapers
I did some research in Holland and they ask for one m audio sub 255 euro and you need two
Can you believe it for 2 subs 510 euro
I think I try to replace the oem nokia subs and put some others in the box
Does anybody know a good replacemend like cosioboy sad??

I was thinking of designing a 4 woofer box that fits inside the stock cover piece for the existing sub system that is in most cars, ie, the DSP/Nokia box.
The woofers would vent into the car in the 'stock' positions, two per side.
The woofers have a very low FS, or resonant frequency. They have an efficency of 88 db each, at 8 ohms. They can be wired directly into the stock DSP amplifier system or an eternal amp can be put on instead. THis ends up meaning about 91 db or so, across the effective range, in car, with 1 watt of input. Likely to be notably more efficent than the stock nokia sub, which can be a problem. Some sort of level control would have to be inititated.Perhaps an extrnal amp would be in order for that purpose, but it is likely that someone wouls be replacing the fronts and the like, anyway...if they are swapping out the subs.
The box would be rather complex, though.
A smart man, would go free air, on a modified panel/board of some sort, so I may do that instead. Designing and executing the box is a nightmare, which is why the stock DSP Nokia sub is bandpass, small, and plastic molded. They actually did quite well with the space they had, nothing shocking there...
~~~~~~~~~~~
The problem with open air, in a car, and horizontal mount like that, is eventually, the cones on the woofers sag, over time, from the weather extremes they are subjected to. 99% of woofers are designed for vertical mounting, and the larger ones have to be rotated (flipped 180 dgrees)once ever six months to stop the cones from sagging.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Each of the drivers I'm thinking of using, has 1" of linear motor travel (cone motion) before distorting, and this translates (all 4 woofers) to about the same amount of air moved by a high performance 12" woofer. These woofers are 6.5" each. They each handle 300 watts, peak and 150 watts continous.
Problem: These woofers are $125US each, so the sub box, parts, labour etc, would be about $1k, but would slip into the stock position, and pound..really, really well.
This is a thought experiment at this point. I bought the woofers as part of a design experiment about a year ago that has not yet come to fruition, so they're just sitting around.
