Valentine One and Laser

I've had my Valentine One for several months now. In an earlier post I talked about false alarms with Laser detection. I've decided to re-program the V1 and disable Laser protection. Any time I block the path of the rear sensor, the Laser goes crazy (reaching up to close the garage with the Homelink, or turning around to see whats behind me when backing up, or simply holding my hand in front of the V1) It seems to be redirecting it's own signal back and setting off the Laser warning.

I don't believe I've ever had a real laser detection. My question is, where do police use Laser radar? I've driven in SC, GA, FL, NJ, PA, NC, MD, WV, DE and VA (with it off of course) Do the cops in any of these states use Laser?

I don't think I'm missing out on protection if it's never used on almost the entire east coast. What do you guys think?

Re: Valentine One and Laser

It's pretty brutal in Canada, specifically in Quebec and Ontario, and they are darned sneaky and quick about it too. Like pruning herds of Caribou. Pray you aren't targeted. The set it up so you NEVER see it coming.

The worst is when they set up a K band drone, then tag you with laser when you least expect it...

Re: Valentine One and Laser

Laser is used all over Georgia by the larger jurisdictions, The state patrol seems to have begun using it also. IMHO a laser dectector should more aptly be named a Ticket Detector - by the time the detector goes off you have already been clocked

As a side note if my V1 was giving false readings I would send it in to be repaired tomorrow!

Re: Valentine One and Laser

Totally agreed.. I got tagged in Florida and Georgia, and I had the V1 on both times. It is pretty much useless against laser (unless you are totally lucky and get a stray beam that bounces off another car towards your V1) so I got a Lidatek installed over a year ago. Murphy's Law: I haven't been targeted once since!

Re: Valentine One and Laser

I think you should talk to Valentine. My V1 doesn't do what yours does. Yes, it will false Laser for SOME LED brake lights - but it doesn't have an issue when I put my hand up there.

TX is laser country. In my e46 M3 I had Escort SR7 w/ZR 3 laser diffuser. Worked great. In my 5, I only have the V1. I agree the V1 is useless against laser. I may have to go back to the Escort set up. I've been stopped by Fayette County Deputy Sheriff already. WARNING.....lucky me.

Power on............
