Short Shifter Install Question

I received my Rogue SSK, which I plan to install myself, and it didn't come with the tool for releasing the gearshift lever mounting ring. Any suggestions for doing the job without the tool? Anybody want to sell/lend me the tool?

Thanks.

Re: Short Shifter Install Question

Think I just used a long nose pliers and a screwdriver.

You can use a pair of needle nose pliers to do the job, just put the points in the recesses and twist, CCW as I recall. Use soapy water to put the rubber pieces back on, it is a GREAT help.

I have the tool, if you want to borrow it. PM me for more info. I'm close to you in Bryn Mawr.

Re: Short Shifter Install Question

You can even use two screwdrivers inserted into the locking tabs, cross them (looks like a "X") and rotate the screwdrivers and cup together. I seem to recall that the Rogue instructions show how to do this with "crossed screwdrivers". It's really quite easy.

Re: Short Shifter Install Question

Here is what I used last weekend as part of my install, see picture 1.

My Rogue+WSR Octane SSK install

BTW, despite what you might hear from a rambling board sponsor, great choice on the Rogue SSK, brother!
