Post rear tyre price

With 11800km on the M5 one of my rear Dunlup tyre has a 1 inch long cut about 1 inch above the rim.
It has to be a manufacture defect because the rim does not show any sign of damage.

My dealer says that it is not covered by Dunlup warranty because the tyre came with the car from BMW assembly line.It would of been on warranty if i had bought the tyre afterwards!!!
Does that answer make sense???

The dealer wants C$622+taxes for a replacement.Since i can't drive with only one new one i have to buy two.

Is this a reasonable price for (1) tire?

Down here that tyre is about $290 US, not including installation. Check Road & Track or other mags.

Hmmm, better check with BMW Canada.
I don't think that's the right and final answer.
It has been a while when I get the M5 and I forgot what they say about it (Nov 1999).
However, when I took delivery of an Audi (May 29, 2000), the dealership gave me a SEPARATE booklet regarding the tire and said that I should have 1 year warranty by the Tire company (Bridgestone) less wear and tear.
While I don't have that separate tire booklet with my M5, I don't think BMW assembly line can sell you anything AS IS given you're buying a new car.
C$622+tax seems like an awful lot, I would imagine something in the C$500 neighbourhood. They are ripping you off!! Better check around and switch dealer.

Dealerships lie, they always do. One dealership tried to charge me for labour when they did my first oil and service!!! Careful.
