Assael BMW in SoCAL

Does anyone have any feedback pertaining to them? I am going to have the M5 I am looking to purchase inspected there. This is also where the S2 package was installed on the car. Also, if there is anyone that is around this area (Monrovia) that would be willing to double-check this car out for me I would have a case of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on the next UPS truck out to you plus I would be forever indebted. Thanks much for all the help that I have already received on this board. It is amazing how the love of cars can draw people together.

I've heard good and bad, but more of the latter.

Is there a reason why you are having the car inspected there? Avus in Glendale is close by, is a DINAN dealer, and the owner (Andrew Kahn) is an avid BMW fan (two 850csi(s)) and a really honest good guy. I would have a shop that did not do mods look it over.

Just my $0.02 cents.

P.S. I would be willing to check the car out, but I own a Z8 cousin not an M5.

Just not as independent as I would think because they installed it. If possible try a place that did not do the installation. The reason is that if they installed it of course they will say it looks good because it would reflect bad on them but if they are cool you might find that they can get the team that did it to look it over and give an honest opinion because either way they are getting your money.

Re: Assael BMW in SoCAL

Following this boards advice again, I actually ended up talking with Andrew at Avus Autosport and setting up an appointment for inspection there. This is my first dealing with Avus, but so far I am really impressed. Andrew went out of his way to research the history of the car to make sure it was worth my money for an inspection. He then explained everything that was involved in the process and what the costs would be, and he was able to fit the car in tomorrow. So far in my book Avus gets a big thumbs-up, and I can see why they were highly recommended.

Yeah, from my past experiences Andrew rocks. BTW, you might have talked to Leif Anderberg when you called as he answers the phone most of the time. He was the founder of the BMW ACA, which merged with BMW CCA a few years back. He too is great and a BMW guy through and through.

Good luck

Any contact info for Avus? Has anyone got their E39 M5 mods done there if so what type of mods? I am considering getting a header and chip upgrade (to accomodate the header) but not sure who to trust the install.

Thanks.

Avus Autosport
www.avusautosport.com (website isn't working right now)
312 Vine Street
Glendale, 91204
818-500-7663

Again, the guy I dealt with is Andrew and he was incredibly helpful and friendly. Also,if you search this board there are tons of positive comments regarding Avus. Good luck.

Leif also happens to live in Monrovia, same town where Assael is.

Re: Assael BMW in SoCAL

I bought my 01 M5 there new. They were pretty good, but service was better at New Century in Alhambra. I live in Arcadia, right next to Monrovia.
I will try to go over and look at the car informally. My M5 is in brand new condition still with only 7800 miles. Anyway, where is the car, in the showroom or in the back lot? Where exactly is the car?

You don't have to give me anything. I'll do a stealth visit if possible.

Randy
