Pics from Road Atlanta BMW DE

There apparently was a photographer taking pictures of our most recent DE last weekend. Here is the link.
There were 3 cars that hit a wall. An E28 M3 was in group 1. Also, a new GT3 also hit a wall when he overacclerated in turn 3. Lastly, a new 350Z hit in turn 12.
FYI, I'm car A12 in group 1. I hope you enjoy.

Re: Pics from Road Atlanta BMW DE

It's really sad that Road Atlanta has added all those walls -- guess it was to meet FIA standards on crowd protection or some such. It's amazing to see a concrete wall between the track and a (former) tire wall! RA used to be reasonably forgiving except turn 12, but now they have all this concrete everywhere. Sorry to hear about three people "walling-it" at the DE.

This you?

Yep, that's me-in the passenger seat. Driving is MariettaM5, a fellow board member and **** good driver. He was my instructor for the weekend. I'm in group A and have an A12 on the front windshield.

RA is great but looking forward to getting back to Barber!

Re: Pics from Road Atlanta BMW DE

Walls scare me, especially in my own M5. I am registered for VIR with http://www.carolinas-pca.com/ in December and looking forward to it.

I found a pic. What wheels are those?

Re: Pics from Road Atlanta BMW DE

The bra looks like a good investment for track duty too...link?

Also, Richard, are you a PCA member?

Re: Pics from Road Atlanta BMW DE

Nope, not a PCA member but their events seem to be easier to get into than BMW CCA events. Their status list shows quite a variety of cars.

Re: Pics from Road Atlanta BMW DE

Those are SSR GT2 wheels dedicated for track use. I'm still running the Dunlop Super Sport R compound via Tirerack. At $120/tire, hard to complain.
Don't have a link for the bra as I purchased it over 2 years ago and only use if for the track.
I do want to get to VIR, but will probably wait until I have a dedicated track car. I cringe at the thought of putting this into a wall.

That's why you need to come to VIR! Road Atlanta has been turned into wall city while VIR has massive amounts of run-off room by comparison.
