velocity stacks

I was wondering if anybody has some info on the power increase of aftermarket velocity stacks. I have seen the discovery automotive/$2000, technik/$1000, dinan/$5400 but none post the hp/tq increase. Dinan does but it is in conjunction with the larger throttle bodies and many other mods. If there is a 5hp increase I can't justify the buy, any comments or dyno results.

Re: velocity stacks

Just curious - do you have headers? I'm not sure, but I think this is the best bolt-on HP gain for your buck.

Re: velocity stacks

I think this mod works best w/ the intake, throttle bodies, MAFS...not as a stand alone.

What's a good bang for the buck header? I was considering Dinan but would like to research more.

Thanks.

Re: velocity stacks

dinan doesnt sell the velocity stacks as a stand alone, they are larger diameter and wouldn't fit. WIth the throttle bodies (after everything else in their catolog) dinan claims 38hp.

Headers will get you a real 30hp, dinans are nice, but expensive. supersprints will make similar hp, maybe with a little low end loss, for a bit under $3k.

Re: velocity stacks

Wasnt there a thread around awhile ago where someone lost some low end with velocity stacks and didnt pick up much of anything on the high end? I'll try searching for that, as it would be a good read for anyone who is looking to do the mod.

Re: velocity stacks

Evosport did some tests and told me that there were some power gains on the high-end, but you will loose some everywhere else. Not a good mod.

Re: velocity stacks

I have the velocity stacks, and a few other mods, compared to a standard car is offer more 'sparkle' up the top end and doesnt feel flat beyond 6,500 rpm. For me a nice mod as they sound fab, it propably loses a little at the bottom and picks up a touch at the top end. But lets face it how many people mash the throttle at 2,500 rpm ? If you drive the car with Sport on/off then this will have more effect at part throttle than any loss of torque from ram stacks. maybe you lose a few hp at full throttle sub 3,500 rpm, but worth the trade in my view

Its more of a balance change than mega performance mod comparing a stock car to the mods below

I'm surprised to see you don't have headers yet on you mod list/why? What brand of velocity stacks did you get and did you get a custom chip with them.
