Bluetooth users beware - read this article

I don't have Bluetooth and consequently I do not follow the BT threads on this (or other) boards, but for those that do, I saw this on AutoBlog yesterday and thought you might like to be aware of it:

That's an interesting article. But not to worry with the BMW Bluetooth. First, it can only be paired by using a special procedure that involves holding the pairing button down with key off, then turning the key on and releasing the button. Secondly, the BMW security code is a random 4-digit number unique to each car. So what I'm saying is that BMW has you covered, which is what you would expect from BMW.

Compare that to an aftermarket Parrot Bluetooth kit. It can be paired anytime the ignition is on, and the security code for all their units is 1234. YIKES!!!

That's good to know. Thanks, Elevens. Didn't mean to scare anyone - but since I wasn't familiar in the least with the BMW system, I figured I'd post. Plus, maybe people have other systems in other cars that they should be careful with.

I guess y'all up there are getting ready for winter already, eh?
