According to the article, the E39 is a LeMans Blue and the E34 Touring is Avus.

Yeah, the two links above weren't good examples, but the first link was the one. Here it is again; side-by-side. It's even hard to tell from these pics. It's hard to tell in person. http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=52384&highlight=Avus

Actually, I think Jaeger's car and mine were parked side-by-side at Stanford back in March. We couldn't tell the difference at first either, but it bacame noticable at different angles. He agrees that Avus is lighter and Lemans is darker with a hint of purple at different angles.

I live in Columbia SC and go to charleston once in a while. I have a 2000 Avus Blue, ill give you a heads up next time im on my way down and you can take a look at the color in person. Pictures only show you so much, these 2 colors you have to see in person to appreciate.
