Flickering Tailights

Guys I need your help.My M5 00 is in the shop for a few repairs including the driveshaft and diff seals however the SA advised me my tail lights are flickering.I have found out the LCU may be at fault and belive the tail lights were changed to the 01 type however the LCU wasn't.He advised it isn't possible to buy the LCU seperately. He can fit a complete set of new tailights and LCU for about $410.Does this sound right or is their another solution.Thanks.
