i reported from the adiffernet board because there is no warranty /maintenance plans available on the e60 m5 yet.

Extended Maintenance and Warranty

<HR style="COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I was looking to get the extended maintenance and warranty from the dealer on my E60 M5 on order.

Does anyone have an idea how much the markup is generally on these products?

I negotiated in my contract to get them at dealer cost but not having the invoice/msrp data in front of me .

Thank you.

Thank you.
That info may not be available yet. With the E39, you had plenty of time during the maintenance or warranty period to extend. I wouldn't be too concerned if that info is not out on early delivery of cars. I assume the E60 will have 4/50 maintenance and warranty for U.S.

Hello,

I am a new owner of my first BMW a 2002 M5 with 47K miles. I believe I have less than one year warranty left, and would like to learn/know what my options are for extended warranty whether it be through BMW or second, third party.

Any comments, suggestions, leads, recommendations ??
What should I look for and/or avoid ?

Thanks,
GR

You need to watch out for the miles. Your new vehicle warranty ends at 50,000 miles and 3rd party companys will not provide a warranty when your vehicle is out of the new car warranty. Anyway, they also charge more for the miles on the vehicle at the time of warranty purchase. For example the same car with 23,000 miles will pay less than the one with 48,000 miles.
After meeting with a group of 17 other M5's this weekend the all convienced me not purchase one since I have the CPO on my car, most major items are covered until 3/2008.

I have contacted 6 local BMW dealers and received different prices, coverage, companies and length of contract from everyone!!!!! My head could spin off!!:confused3 :confused3 ouich Good luck in your search!!

Hal-

Here is one, perhaps on tangentially related, data point: a BMW extended warranty (only available to the original retail purchaser) is $3750 list. A certified pre owned extended warranty (sold only to a dealer) is $1295. (The dealer pays BMW 1295, inspects the car, and then can sell the car as a cpo with the extended warranty.)

Now, that is a 3x difference. I suspect that the cpo is at or below "cost' as it helps dealers make money and move cars.

I would think 50% or less of MSRP on the extended warranty.

I think the maintenance plan is not a good investment- unless it is $300
