Fuel Filter Replacement

Where on the E39 M5 (year 2000) is the fuel filter? Does it have one or two of them? Anyone change one before? How do you do it?

I tried searching for this and came up with nothing. Has anyone changed one before?

Thanks!

Re: Fuel Filter Replacement

I just ordered a fuel filter from 800-909-PART, and installed it yesterday.

In the Future Get This Before You Start Any Projects...

Pretty simple. First:

Turn car off and let sit for at least 5 minutes before disconnecting battery cable.(thought is that the computer can be still shuting down.)

Disconnect Battery Cable, in trunk.

Under the Drivers door from Rear of Front tire about 3 feet back remove Plastic Panel.

Unscrew 2 8mm nuts holding Fuel Filter in place.

Using 2 Wrenches, Loosen front part of filter as the Rear is held on by a Plastic tension clip that allows the filter to spin.

Using fuel line clips to minimize spilage, place clip on both front and rear of fuel lines. Be Careful not to pinch, just squeeze.

Unscrew front part of Fuel Filter.

Push white plastic clip on rear of Fuel Filter to remove old Fuel Filter.

Replace new filter. DON'T FORGET TO PLACE WASHER ON FRONT PART OF FILTER. Tighten, install rear hose to fuel filter. replace parts.

Install Battery Cable... All Done
