Chicago meet part 2 - DIY day at Fall-line motorsports

Ok everyone,

Just got confirmation from Mark at Fall-line for an M5 DIY day. Fall-line is located at:

1801 Holste Rd.
Northbrook, IL 60062

The agenda would be (subject to change of course):

Tour of fall-line facility
DIY tech session
Dyno (currently it is $200, but if there is enough interest, we could probably get a group rate)

Open items: (I will edit this post as we make changes)
-What day should we meet? (vote, vote, vote!)
-What should tech session consist of? (Oil change, brake pads, rotor replacements)
-brakes (fluid replacement, pads, rotors)
-Any interest in performance mod stuff? (adding exhaust, headers, etc...)
-lunch (order in or go somewhere)
-Anyone wish to donate their car for the DIY session?
-Dyno pricing (if I get confirmation from 5 people I'll open the negotiations with Mark)
-Should I get a paintless dent repair guy there? Is there any interest?

Nadeem,

Thanks for pulling this together. As far as the DIY session goes, anything brake related (rotor, pads and fluid replacement) would be the the top of my list.

Re: Chicago meet part 2 - DIY day at Fall-line motorsports

What day should we meet? (vote, vote, vote!)
Anyday works for me...obviously, a weekend day works best. Also, I can;t make Sept 9-11...going to Skip Barber 3 day course at Road America. Hopefully they'll let me take a few laps with my car!

-What should tech session consist of? (Oil change, brake pads, rotor replacements)
Those sound good...whatever is most common. I see a lot of people talking about cleaning their MAFs...it sounds pretty common and can be a sensitive item to mess with. Maybe they've done it before and can give some advice.

-brakes (fluid replacement, pads, rotors)
Sure...

-Any interest in performance mod stuff? (adding exhaust, headers, etc...)
Exhaust...they are a Dinan shop, so it will be biased.

-lunch (order in or go somewhere)
Whatever...

-Anyone wish to donate their car for the DIY session?
I would. They just put new brakes on my car about a month ago and they are squeaking a little. Might be a good opportunity for them to look at them. I have a 2000 M5 Black/Black...totally stock..~50K miles.

-Dyno pricing (if I get confirmation from 5 people I'll open the negotiations with Mark)
Cool, but I'm not interested.

-Should I get a paintless dent repair guy there? Is there any interest?
Not for me, but would be interesting.

Not for me, but would be interesting.
The "Dent-ist" that comes in a few days a week at Knauz is outstanding. He has de-dinged and de-dented both our Beast and our MINI, and did a flawless job on both.

I was convinced that we would have to go the full-on repair route with a lovely parking-lot DENT (no mere DING) that we had on the MINI (on a complex curve on the bonnet, no less), and he saved us nearly $900.
