NAV CD question???

hey guys,
I have an 01 M5 (9/00 production date) so i already have the widescreen in my car. the appearance of my screen is dated though, it is obviously an old disc. I don't really care about doing the whole DVD upgrade, but i was wondering if i could just get a new disc so the appearance of my screen looks "updated"

if you guys could please give me some information on where to buy and pricing i would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mark

Re: NAV CD question???

Sounds like you just need a firmware upgrade.. have a look here

http://www.x5world.net/nav_os.htm

and here

http://www.x5world.net/navfaq.htm

for how to update to the latest firmware, this should give you splitscreen capability and a few wrinkles in the address selection, it wont give you birds eye view or any other display capabilities other thanwhat you already have.

Later maps can be had from Navtech

It's the same. Make sure you buy CD-R, not CD-RW. So far, other posts claim Verbatim works. I used Sony. The cheap stuff does not work and will cause your monitor to conk out. Then your cd might get stuck. There are good problems/solutions on other boards also.

Re: NAV CD question???

Re: NAV CD question???

I upgraded my MY2001 to the latest firmware by using the Key CD and firmware CD images as downloaded from the sources recommended on the X5 site, I wrote both CDs at single speed using Nero and the upgrade worked just fine. A bit nailbiting when it wad doing it's churning around..

Dave,
Where did you get the CD Key? I followed the directions on X5world, but it looks like you have to be a member of the Yahoo Group to get the image and my membership has been pending for several days now. Do you know of anywhere else to get the image? I already have the NAV software, but I am upgrading from V17 so I think I am going to need the key.
Thanks

I became a member.. I have a copy of the key CD here and could easily cut you one.
