bayerischemotor,

In Finland they calculate your speeding fine according to your salary? Wow that's resourceful.

Yep, that is true. The record in Finland is about 115K euro, now that is about $135.000 for a speeding ticket I bet his wife was pleased with that one

I don't know exactly how much I would get, but I think something like >1000euros for 21km/h over the limit. That aint funny

If you have 0 income you will still get a minimum of 120euro as a speeding ticket.

Hey

I am actually quite confused by the result I got today:
3rd gear, redline 144 l/h
temp: 57F
pressure: 30.14 in
humidity: 59%
altitude: 3 feet

the reason I am confused is that I never cleaned/replaced the MAFS and the car is stock MY00 with 85,000 miles. I had an oil change recently, but air filters are old (~10k miles).
I got very consistent results (I tried yesterday too).

I was expecting to get really low readings after finding this thread, but here I am. Or should I get more like 150+ with this kind of conditions?

Surprisingly good numbers indeed for 6 yr old 85K MAFSs. Maybe all that environmentalism is paying off for Cali

If you are not the original owner, perhaps it was done prior?

I am going to get the detailed service from the dealership (I think they can give me such printout).
I looked in the records that I have (from the day it was picked up at the dealership) and could not find anything about the MAFs.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Nicolas,

Numbers look fine. Be happy. I think the MAFs have most likely been replaced before.

Or maybe you are just lucky!

Either way, how does the car drive?

Cheers,

David

Car drives great so far (just replaced the clutch last week, you know the feel), nothing major as of now (knock on wood).
Idle is fine, no hesitation besides that I noticed that sometimes (not always) when driving with DSC on and SPORT mode off the car takes longer to go WOT. I think it takes about a second or so.

So..the trick then, if you 'feel the need to speed'...is to go on state welfare....and borrow a friend's 5..and go as fast as you can. 120 euro ticket?

Of course, you do know you have to break the new clutch in correctly, or it will slip. What you describe can be many things, among others the first signs of clutch slip on the new clutch, unless there is a DSC light.

If it only happens when Sport mode is off, donīt worry, it is just the nature of the slower throttle response. It should happen the same everytime in that case, though.

3rd gear, redline 85 l/h
4th gear, redline 115 l/h
temp: 73F
Humidity 68%
Pressure: 30.16

VW MAF and o2 sensors on the way

I also bought an air/fuel gauge so you can have a constant digital reading.
