So over the summer I changed my rod bearings and when I went to do the first oil change , the oil was only dripping out of the drain. I removed the lower oil pan and realized I put the sump screen on backwards so it was covering the drain, DUH! No problem flipped it around torqued the pan bolts to 10nm and one of them stripped. DOH!
So I repaired it with a timesert and minus waiting for a week for the insert and tools it turned out to be a perfect repair. Today I was thumbing through real oem looking for something and I found BMW has their own thread repair inserts.
So I'm here to ask.. has anyone used the BMW ones over Time serts?
For reference here is the BMW tool kit and inserts
