Re: anyone know about the Dinan short shift kit?

Just currious if anyone has simply tried replacing the stock linkage with the DSSR for any improvement?

Here you go boys, here's what I believe to be the perfect combination.......

Hi Guys,
This will be getting installed into an M5 shortly.
UUC & DINAN will make a great combination together! For the record, I applaud DINAN for doing their homework on "finding" the "just right" version SSK for the M5, just like UUC did their homework and came up with their product shown in the PIC.
You comments please.
Robert

Robert,

Let me know how this one turns out.... I was going to do EVO3 but might opt this same way with either the DSSR or Rogue versions.

thanks and keep us posted.

Fast 5 pic shows a UUC DSSR. I installed one last year. It is a weighted, precision machined gizmo that replaces the flexing OEM rod. It connects the shifter to the tranny.

You will need to call the specific mfr(s) involved to get advise, if you want to mix-match shifter & selector rod parts. The stock M5 shifter likely has different geometry than the EVO3.

If Rob Levinson were reading this thread, I think he would say: "The EVO3 is designed to work with the stock selector rod. Thus, the DSSR will work with either the factory shifter or the UUC shifter, since it was designed to be a direct replacement for the factory selector rod."

Re: anyone know about the Dinan short shift kit?

Fast 5 -- will be very interested how the combination works out. Guess i'll delay installing the Dinan shifter until you give us a report.

My fundamental question is whether or not it's desirable to stiffen up the shift linkage given the inherent notchiness of the transmission's internal selectors? I've been less than thrilled with my UUC SS (although this has been complicated by the Redline shipped by UUC with the clutch kit -- after a couple thousand miles with Royal Purple it's much better -- about to replace the Royal Purple to get rid of any residual Redline).
