In a stock car in the summer, PSS slightly better. But the PSA3+ is a superb tire. the rest of the year. Given your locale, I would get the a3+ for the rear. For most driving, you really want tires with the same handling characteristics on both axles.

Car looks great!!

Congratulation on the purchase. Looks to be very clean and definitely an impressive color combination.

Jerry has it nailed down. The dry limits of the PSAS3+ are very high, higher than some other brands' summer tires. Redshift (Brian) here locally has an ESS blown S62 in his E39 wagon putting down over 500whp, and he swears by the PSAS3+ for putting down power. Especially in cool weather, dry road temps say 55F and below, the PSAS3+ will easily outperform the PSS proportionally more so as you go down the temp scale. I can't really comment on hookup since my M5 and M3 both are on PSS, and the E91 only has 230hp. ...that is until BimmerPerformanceCenter finishes their N52 turbo kit which might find its way onto the wagon.

Current stable:

That's pretty impressive. The Raleigh winter is throwing me off a bit. I'm not used to having 50-60degree days and 30-40degree nights. AS3+'s will probably be the best for my application.

On another note, what do you guys think about my choice of fluids? I'm in Raleigh, looking to daily drive the car, and I'll probably hit red line 2-3x a day. I'm usually easy on my cars but I do want to ring the puppy out here and there. No track use planned. I'm more interested in the local guys' opinions since you know what the weather & roads are like here.

Engine oil: Castrol 0w40 (only for my first change since the cold starts can be around 32degrees). Will switch to Castrol or LM 10w60 in the spring/summer.

MTF: The clutch was done by BMW (not the DMF, just clutch kit) 12k miles ago but I might just change this so that I know what's in the car. Pentosin MTF LT2 or Royal Purple Syncromesh? Should I not even do the MTF?

Diff fluid: Royal Purple 75w140 or Amsoil Severe Gear 75w140?

Thanks guys. I do appreciate this color combo. Never thought I'd like the imola interior but I think it's a nice contrast to the alpine white.
