I have 2 in the shop if you still need to get one.
I have one but it was broken in shipment. Let me see what the seller is going to do for replacement and I will let you know.

PM how much you want for the unit.

The new gen Camaro is the first body style I have liked in a long time. The pony car wars over the past decade have been interesting.

If you want to get rid of your whole setup sooner rather than later, let me know and I may consider picking everything up at once.

I just ordered speakers so may get going soon. Although I have some maint projects on the kids cars which are only home for a few weeks so those take priority over playing with audio systems.

And yes same here. Never would have considered a 5th gen. But seems with the new one they added a very respectable interior and gave the chassis a good bit of vette DNA so it's a damn nice car now.

I am in no hurry. When I get back I am fixing the cooling on my 540 and then putting the M in the garage for work. Probably be down for 6 months with the baby coming in March. Anyways, if you are going to get rid of all the audio, I would just get everything from you at once. PM me whenever you're ready.

I haven't driven a new one but the pony cars are just one upping each other on a constant basis - not a bad thing for the enthusiast. I wander which will be the first manufacturer to produce a 1,000hp version (likely a smaller run special edition). My bet would be on Ford.

Sounds good. You shouldn't drive one unless you can buy one ! They merge all the best of a C6 with a BMW coupe type of vibe. I tend to think of it as the E92/3 merged with a C6.

That said - the M5 is still my favorite car of all time. And keeps growing on me five years later and this is my second one. So that has long term potential for you as well IMHO!

Got a few hours to work on the cars today, although most of it went to putting the cooling system back together on the 540i. No pics but the expansion tank was in fact the culprit.

For the M5, I received my first order of parts from Adam. The packaging of everything was exceptional. Most of these parts will go on at a later date since I will be replacing the HVAC assembly behind the dash, the audio harness, and the front carpet. I will likely have the entire interior out of the car so mostly I'm just sourcing everything I need to get it put back together.

Replaced the door sill trim that at the top of the front door (no pics) and replaced the door seal. For whatever reason, the seal that was on the car was in three pieces. This was the same for the passenger side as well.

Here is how the negative terminal was tightened.

I removed the screw and installed the new post tightener from Adam, put the foam in, and installed the cover. However, it seems this magical screw was all that was keeping the battery alive. After doing these fixes the car would just click and won't turn over. I did a little bit of trouble shooting and believe it is a battery issue. When I put the car on the tender, it showed a battery percentage of 0%. It is charging successfully now, but I imagine I will be replacing the battery. I drove the car today with no issues and the problem didn't start until after I finished the work above. Weird.

Very minimal progress today on the M.

After reading this post and examining the manner in which you care for your cars, I have no doubt this M5 landed in the right hands. I'll be following your progress and taking some inspiration from you!

The Pony cars cannot still match the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the E39 M5. Don't get me wrong I like the new Camaros and Mustang but they will never match the class of the E39 M5. Commodity product vs Luxury/Sport Premium.

Got some more time to work on the car. Washed it and replaced the passenger side door seal, which was also in 3 pieces like the driver's side. I also replace the drivers striker plate. Neither would warrant a pic but I will include the striker plate, which also shows the tire label and the deep gouges. Anyone have any idea how this happens? I have never seen anything like it but actually saw an e28 in the last few months with similar gouges in the same area.

I also removed the center console, lower dash trim, glove compartment, rear seats, parcel shelf and last of the aftermarket wiring/speakers. Although maybe I will find some more when I get the dash out.

Trash

Aftermarket parcel speakers

Parcel shelf will definitely need some work. I am going to start with dye and see how it comes out.

Looks more like the early stages of a race car build.

I have more interior in my office than in my car now. I will probably work the leatherique in stages using my downstairs bathroom and a space heater so I don't have to wait till summer.
