Just picked up my shiny new '01 LMB M5 and starting to address the laundry list of little issues. First up is the turn signals - they work great but don't flick off by themselves. Any idea what needs to be replaced? Having a bit of trouble finding any definitive answers or diy instructions.
If there is no click then the stock is broken. It is easy to see and diag once you get the lower cover off and gain access. Eventually you have to pull the wheel IIRC, but as I recall I was able to trip the switch with a screw driver to confirm it was mechanical in the switch.
Your lever stays in position and does not return?
Since it is hard to find I looked it up. this is for my 2000 car. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=DE93-USA-02-2000-E39-BMW-M5&diagId=61_0114
On my car it was part 3 that was broken not part 1.

I would contact clemster, find one of his threads in the for sale forum. Pray it is the switch and not the ring thing. The ring thing is about four times the work.
