Hood stuck.

My wife closed the hood and only the right side went down. The left side is not latched completely and she says she can't lift them hood up to fully close it.

Does anyone have any tips? A simple explanation is needed because I have to give her instructions in e-mail because I am deployed and she is not car savvy.

Re: Hood stuck.

I would have her drive it to the local dealership - they can quickly look at it and probably fix it on the spot.

Good luck.

Well, she doesn't have a lot of time.

I know what you mean - possibly the dealer is a long way for her. My dealer, while certainly not perfect, will look at stuff like this right away and this saves time in the long run.

I don't know the latch mechanism enough to help you out. I think perhaps more harm than good can come from a novice trying to fix it.

Re: Hood stuck.

My hunch is that she's not pulling up enough on the hood release. If it's the drivers side that latched, and the passenger side is still unlatched, I'd say its just that.
Have her pull on the hood release as high as it will come, and have someone else pull up on the hood. I highly doubt its stuck.
Best of luck

PS. You could always have her 'gently' press the unlatched side closed, and try opening again.

Re: Hood stuck.

Plasma cutter will fix the problem. But.. it MIGHT leave a bit of a mark!

Getting them them cocked like that is a pain. If she can't get the side that is stuck up to close, then it sounds like there is something there blocking it, like a quart of oil or something. A little bit of pressure on the side that hasn't closed should get it to latch.

Have her sit on the left side of the hood so it will latch, then it should release from the inside!

Tough one without seeing it. Is her purse missing? At least she knew how to open the hood. My boss didn't. I was surprise there wasn't a rat nest in there.
