Re: New Dinan Short Shifter???

I shot myself in the foot. A quick check of their site reveals that this is true! And for what seems to be a VERY REASONABLE PRICE!

I would like to look into this... I've been thinking about an SSK. Any ideas on how this will compare to the UUC?

Re: New Dinan Short Shifter???

Might be good, the price is fair. I have heard alot of good things about the UUC SSK and I am going try it out, can let you know how I like it. You could go tho the UUC website and read up on their evo 3 and then compare it to the Dinan one, not sure if that would help, Josh

Re: New Dinan Short Shifter???

Interestingly, one of Dinan's selling points is that it retains the nylon pivot ball and bushing instead of having metal components, whereas one of UUC's selling points is that it foregoes the nylon ball and bushing for a ss ball and ball bearing.

Pure speculation, but perhaps Dinan's is smoother (more buttery?) at the expense of some precision, while the UUC's is more precise at the expense of some notchiness?

Re: New Dinan Short Shifter???

i wonder exactly what dinan's part is. It sounds like it's an OE bmw shift lever, probably from another model, maybe the MZ3 or something to offer a shorter throw.

Re: New Dinan Short Shifter???

Well, my local Dinan Dealer (Motorworks West) ordered a few and I've reserved the first one. Not sure when they'll be receiving them, but I'll be their M5 guinea pig! I'll post once it is installed although I won't be able to give a comparison as I've never driven another M5 with a short shifter.
