Fix for '00 Titanium Trim Scratches?

          Hello all,

I have some pretty significant scratches and swirl marks on my center console... I am aware that this "titanium trim" is plastic... has anyone successfully buffed out these type of scratches? I would like to avoid changing the center console trim piece, it looks like a pain in the butt to remove

Just to clarify.. the trim is not peeling... shallow surface scratches only. I can't feel the scratches if I run my finger over the center console.

are you referring to the piece around the gear shift and hazard/lock buttons? if so, its fairly easy to remove, clip up the gear surround, 2 screws either corner, clip up the handbrake surround, pop up the ashtray (screw), pop out the little sliding storage, and then 2 screw under the centre armrest..

a little polish/wax will help hide the scratches, but i've not been able to get them out. This trim is pretty easily scratched.
When i bought my car, the center console had some scratches on it, the dealer replaced the piece as part of the deal, but it's showing scratches again, and i'm pretty careful.

Re: Fix for '00 Titanium Trim Scratches?

I was thinking of getting all my aluminum trim painted, currently looking for a Hamann front lip spolier which I would get painted, then I wanted my plenum cover painted, so why not take off the titanium trim and get it painted silverstone (bluey-silver), would probably look trick, and maybe be a bit easier to keep clean and scratch free then the titanium...

The ultimate way to deal with this problem would be to have trim pieces made of actual titanium. Scratch those if you can!
