Hey guys.
I've got a pre face lift e39 m5 in Australia.
Had it for about 4 months now and I FINALLY got around to getting an FM Transmitter so I didn't have to rely on getting the freshest So Fresh CD, and that same day my Radio decided it wanted to hibernate.
Now I've come to the conclusion that it's the radio because of the following factors;
- Radio doesn't come on at all on the screen
- All fuses are good (even the one on the radio in the boot)
- DSP doesn't show up on screen (told DSP is triggered by the radio turning on)
I've been trying to find a replacement for the last week and I'm really stumped. I keep hearing all these "C43", "BM53" and "BM54" Lingo thrown around.
I know know that BM54 is the EU variant of the BM53, though I assume it was available in post 2002 cars only. Which leaves me to my next question.
How do I Identify the radio I have now? If I punch in the part number it takes me to all these foreign sites and none of them tell me what to actually look for.
I assume it's an EU Version of a C43, though I wouldn't know what to look for.
Note - The unit has "PHILLIPS" on it, not Becker or Alpine.
Anyone able to shed some light on this for me please? (long time lurker first time poster)
