'01 Titanium Silver ALMOST here

Just got the latest status update "IN TRANSIT TO PROCESSING CENTER" ETA to Oxnard prep center 6/22/2001, ETA to me early July :-(
I beginning to know the pain you've all shared! It's on a boat called the Maersk Taiyo - anyone heard of it? Can't seem to track it on the web at all of the traditional sites.

In preparation for its arrival, I'm selling the 1998 540. If you know of anyone that is interested in a single owner, 3-year old with only 27K miles on it, please send them to http://www.bmwm5.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000322.html or directly to http://www.geocities.com/jcirinci

Many thanks to all on the board for all of the great information - looking forward to participating on an upcoming event (and not in Arie's passenger seat ;-))

Looks like your car is on a different ship than mine after all. I fully expect mine to be on either the Phoenix Diamond or the Boheme when it finally does get shipped! I just got back from the dealership and according to their computer my car was released to Waggoner's Trucking. Don't know where it is at this point. I was hoping to be able to track it in a more precise manner. I think that someone told me that there was a way to track the position of the ships using their GPS system. I would do a search on this board to find out about that.

I fully expect to get my M5 in mid-late July but unfortunately I'll be out of town. *sigh*

My Inquiry report also shows that it is Released to Waggoners Trucking - I'd really like to bribe this driver to get his rig up to NorCal sooner; skipping all of the other dealers along the way.

The scheduled ship to dealer is 6/29/01 and the ETA at the dealer is 7/1/01 - why does this driver need to sleep! I certainly won't be! ;-)

JimC,
I hope you'll get it soon. Once you do, hook up with "Mattar" who lives around your area too (I'm sure you have read his previous posts). He can share many valuable information on your M5.

Good luck.....

Thanks for the advice - will do. Also any suggestions about where to drive to get the break in period over with quickly? I was siding towards Las Vegas (sans any Valet Parking) - from San Jose that should get me close to what I need.

JimC:

I doubt that Waggoner's Trucking is capable of driving its trucks across the Atlantic. I think that service is only used to take cars from the factory to the Bremerhaven facilities where they are then loaded onto the ships heading to Oxnard.

I have a feeling that there's just a delay in the computer system in getting the actual information to us folks. It's already been a week since my car was built so it should be on the ship by now. Hopefully that's also the case with you too.

As for breaking my beast in, I doubt that a quick trip down to the Bay area would do the trick since that'd just end up going over 1200 miles. I think I'll just stick to driving around the mountains here.

Looks like my M5 just may be on the same ship as yours. I just checked the owner's circle and it says that my car is "en route." I guess I need to make another trip to the dealership to get yet another status report. Hopefully I'll be able to find out the name of the ship it's on.

I don't know why BMWUSA.com isn't a little bit more accurate as far as order tracking goes. I think it's a few days late. I think that whoever designed the owner's circle figures that us everyday folks aren't anal enough to justify the extra work but what they don't know about is just how rabid us bmwm5.com folks are! Heheh..... Too bad they ended up giving you what sounds like a "corporate" answer to your email.
