NAV Mk4 Upgrade help

Just installed a Mk4 computer upgrade on my 00 M5. The upgrade seemed to work fine, software installed properly etc. However I don't seem to be getting a GPS signal, that is, the car position does not move on the map when the car moves. I can set the current location and it does show fine on the map, and as I drive the position indicator does rotate around the compass heading, but it never moves on the map.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks in advance-

Sounds like the GPS ariel is not plugged in to the MKIV correctly. If you upgraded from a MKII, it's not just plug'n'play - you have to unplug the (correct) cable from the separate GPS unit and then plug it directly to the MKIV (since it, and the MKIII have their own built in GPS).

Regards,

Gary.

Sounds exactly right, take a look at:

Re: NAV Mk4 Upgrade help

I appreciate folks' replies, but here's where things stand-- I have followed precisely the instructions on bimmernav (and did from the start), including proper removal of the Trimble separate GPS unit, and then using that GPS antenna lead into the new Mk4 unit. It does not get a GPS signal. I then reconnected the old MK2 unit and GPS box, and it works fine. So it seems perhaps at this point the new Mk4 is just defective, or else there is some additional step I am missing?
I think I have read of a few others on this board doing the swap on a '00 car, and having it work fine. Any further advice, other than just returning this particular Mk4 box as potentially defective?
Thanks-

I have done this exact thing on my 2000 which works perfectly. Sorry to not have better news.

I've also done the upgrade on my 00 with no problems. I used V24.1 software and 2004-2 DVD map of Noth America and Canada. Might be a software problem. Make sure you have most up-to-date software. If you already have that then you might be looking at a faulty MK4 unit.

Re: NAV Mk4 Upgrade help

Is there any way to adjust the position on MKIV. Seems like it is a bit off when coming to intersections. Thanks, Sean
