errrr....

Can anyone in The US help?

My 4th gear syncro has gone in my M5 (2002 e39). I have stripped down the g/box, and it is well and truely finished (it crunches going into 4th.Track day!)

Over here BMW do not sell any parts of the g/box seperately, what about over there? I refuse to buy a new box!! (I heard in the US you can buy all the components seperately???)

Help me out and i'll speak to everyone over here and tell them that you're all really nice people.......

Re: errrr....

Thats just ridiculous that BMW dont offer gearbox parts over here! I spose its also much more profitable

Looks like a long spell of double-de-clutching!

Re: errrr....

Lonman - if worst comes to worst I know of a used 2002 M5 gearbox with 12k km for 2-3k EUR in Germany.

Re: errrr....

Do you have a part number? It would be easy to order and ship if it's avaiable.

Is it possible to find out if these parts are available?

Re: errrr....

I seem to recall hearing that internals are not available anywhere... seems this was brought up discussing fluid compatabilities... only exchange of the whole unit.

Re: errrr....

I have been told more than once that no parts are sold ... only complete assemblies. I would enjoy knowing otherwise too.

Re: errrr....

Nope. Just a replacement box. That's it. Getrag won't sell the parts. For once, it's not a BMW thing but Getrag's.

"Is it the sounds that make a BMW a BMW? A BMW is designed to be heard, felt, experienced. So our engines sing. Our steering talks back. And we insist on offering manual transmissions in nearly all our models for drivers who crave them. The result is an almost telepathic oneness with the car. Just as surely as you can hear a BMW, a BMW hears you."

Short update......found a company that supplies parts, box being re-built by them, £1000.00 ($1900.00)

Strange that BMW UK, BMW Owners Club and every other specialist in the whole wide world thought it was not possible.
