When I lived in the Bay Area a few years ago ('96-'98), Weatherford BMW in Berkeley did a good job detailing my '93 5 Series. No affiliation, etc.

Is it true that steam-cleaning your engine is a bad thing for it? I've heard that it's good, and bad. Never anything authoritative.

Diablo doesn't clean the engine bay as part of the service I've had done. I think they might do it if you want (but not sure).

Dan -- I think that steam cleaning can be bad if you don't know what you're doing -- the engine compartment isn't meant to get water in it, and I seem to recall reading a post here a while ago about some guy who couldn't start his car after he sprayed the engine...

FWIW, I wouldn't bother with that.
