Evo Magazine E39 M5 Review - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

Hey guys,

Does anyone get Evo magazine? If not then hunt it down now!!! The April 2005 edition has a headline in-depth article (23 pages) on the "best drivers' cars for £20k". They include a 2000 60k miler E39 M5. The lineup comprised:

Honda NSX
TVR Cerbera
Nissan Skyline R33
Maserati 3200GT
Lotus Exige
BMW M5
Ford Escort Cosworth
Toyota MR2
Brand new VW Golf GTI
Mazda MX5
Impreza WRX
New Renault Clio 182

A really tough field, however I don't need to tell you what came first

I also have an MR2. Even without the power of the M5, the mid-engine layout is more fun to drive, especially in the snow. Thus, I must own a Lamborghini or Ferrari before I croak.

Evo in the UK is a truly excellent magazine-seems to be written by real enthusiasts-and the M5 is a long time favourite. The buyers guide in (i think) issue 58 of the M5 was a well researched article which basically said-"What are you waiting for-go out and buy one!!" or words to that effect.

As for the comment regards the Toyota MR2-I traded one in to buy the M5 and while I agree that the Toyota is a well balanced car, very little has made me smile as much as nailing the M5 out of a bend and turning round and doing it over and over again.
