Driving School Near Fun City (Vegas Not an Option) . .

Every year some old friends of mine from across the country get together for a "guys weekend out", usually 3-4 days over the Columbus Day weekend to do something fun away from kids and spouses. For this coming gathering I was thinking of doing a one or two day performance driving school or introduction to racing fairly close to a city in the US or Canada with some other sites or fun things to do. (Fun =pretty amorphous but for us is a combination of some tourist sites, outdoor hiking, comedy clubs, bars, clubs etc.) Unfortunately this past year we did Vegas which also had the Derek Daly driving Academy nearby, so that is not an option. Any other suggestions? It would be great if we could get a fairly high level driving school like Skip Barber or Bondurant but I am not familiar enough with their locations or nearby cities to know anything of interest. I am in the Portland, Ore. area and we have a great local track here, Portland International Raceway and a good driving school (ProDrive), but I would prefer not to do our gathering in my own "backyard." Any thoughts or has anyone done something similar? Thanks for any help you can provide.

/Rich

Re: Driving School Near Fun City (Vegas Not an Option) . .

Well check both barbers and bondurants websites but bondurant is located in Phoenix and a buddy of mine just completed a school session there and liked it. Im actually from around the phoenix area (a long time ago) and love the city and all that it has to offer..

Andretti also offeres driving schools and they have multiple locations.

Sebring is near West Palm
PIR Phoenix International (what ever its called now) is near *duh* phoenix
Andretti is near Dallas

There are alot of options but checking websites for schedules and locations is the best to do. They know that most people want to be near good cities..

Not sure if Skip Barber still does Moroso (West Palm Beach) and Sebring, chech his website. Moroso does have Justin Bell Pro Driving school they reently switched from Vipers to Corvettes. Moroso is 20 minutes from Palm Beach, we can find things for you to do!!! Also check Homestead, 20 minutes south of Miami. Not sure if any pro schools are there, but Miami has South Beach on Miami Beach, so plenty to do there also.
Regards,
Jerry

Re: Driving School Near Fun City (Vegas Not an Option) . .

Road Atlanta has the Panoz driving school http://www.roadatlanta.com/index.lasso

You can stay at Chateau Elan

Another idea is the new Barber race track near Birmingham, AL.

Have fun with whatever you choose.
