Side mirror sometimes gets stuck

My right side outside mirror gets stuck (7 times out of 10) when I press the button to fold them "open". I have to manually turn down the mirror and then it may work after I repeat the fold/open cycle again. I just had Inspection I done yesterday and had the BMW tech lube it, but it still happens. Anybody ever have this problem or does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix it? It started to happen after I ran the beast through a touchless car wash last week .

Re: Side mirror sometimes gets stuck

I am noticing the same thing on the driver's side mirror... It will be in the shop this week on Thursday, and I will add this to my list. It is very intermittent, but usually happens when I want it up for a drive through ATM machine. I don't think the lube will do much... sounds electrical, as though the power isn't being sent to the mirror motor. Loose or old wiring or bad button... I will post again after thursday. Funny how all the same stuff goes wrong on different cars at the same time.

Enjoy the weekend,

Ed

Same here. Being fixed under warranty, waiting for parts, including new motor.

Re: Side mirror sometimes gets stuck

Mine did this on drivers side... took back to dealer as had only recently purchased. It was found that every now and again the mirror came off its gearing.
All fixed now!

Re: Side mirror sometimes gets stuck

Is the electronic fold up mirrors an option? I can't find the button to do this on my car, and I thought it had every possible factory option that was offered in the US.

Thanks.
