I have spent countless hours looking for a non-vmware solution for 64bit compatibility on windows 8 and windows 10.

I have found it, it's an all in one executable that installed Inpa 5.0.6, BMW Coding Tool, Ediabas, NCSExpert and other tools, with SP-Daten integrated

Verified connectivity and it's working on my e39 m5.
The ONLY thing that users may need to do is reconfigure their COM port to be COM1 after the install, but a Readme file pops up after the install with simple instructions.

I take no credit for composing the package, just sharing it as i know this has been a PITA for me, and finally i have success.

The first zip is the executable package. Install away!

Zippyshare.com - EasyBMWTools.zip

The next is the fix to get BMW Coding Tool working, drop the file MSCOMCTL.OCX in the windows\system32 folder (and SySWOW64 if you're on 64bit Windows 10, then reboot)
Replace desktop shortcut for BMW Coding tool with a new shortcut from the source and it will work fine.

Enjoy!

Also i have Ista\P and Ista\D avail and working for windows 10, if need be i will upload them too

EDit: Make sure you are using a USB 2.0 port...

Thanks to @Asb9987 for these expert mode profiles for NCS
Simply paste the contents of the zip (PFL files) into NCS Expert\PFL\

VMWare never worked for me on 64bitwindows 8.1 so when i upgraded to 10, i never attempted that route again. Runs very very smoothly and no hiccups.

FYI you will get a language translation error on INPA one itme, but ignore it

Where are you copying the new shortcut from? What source?
make a new shortcut (after deleting the one the install makes for you on the desktop) for BMW Coding Tool.exe from C:\BMW Coding Tool v250 folder. after replacing that OCX file.

He likes to do things the hard way :)
Dont tell them my secrets.

Thank you for the information. Will all of these programs function on windows 7 or previous using the links you have provided?

64 bit only?

It is on my short list to get all of these programs, but I have put them off because I have only heard what a pain they are to get working on newer laptops.

I am hoping that this will also work on my 64 bit windows 7 system.

Again, Thank you immensely!
Theoretically speaking, It should work just fine on a Win 7 64 bit system, i can test it for you on my desktop (short of connectivity of course).

Ah, thanks! Also the link for the OCX file doesn't work anymore. Any chance you can upload it?

Thanks a lot for sharing this btw. I just got a separate laptop for coding and it has Windows 10. I put off the install until now as I didn't want to deal with installing Windows 7 from scratch...

DIS would make sense to utilize, but it would never work under a 64bit windows 10 environment. The only times i've seen DIS is on dedicated laptops, very very old laptops.

ISTA-D/P is supposed to be just as useful as DIS, maybe others can chime in.

OP Updated with NCSExpert profiles.

I have the same connector.

I imagine it would be Pacman adapter to obdii to usb (laptop).

You may need to find other drivers to make it work, as i have not tested that portion yet, and as far as i know, the Pacman connector would be only needed if you are doing DIS. (someone more experienced can chime in)

The drivers are all the same, the 20 --> 16 pin is just an adapter. You need to use the engine bay port for INPA/DIS/PASoft, etc (any module coding or advanced tests). About the only thing you can do with the under dash port is tune the car, and read readiness monitors with a bluetooth or wireless adapter and iOS / Android devices.

No problem!

I have not searched for DIS whatsoever, as i have actually been playing around with ISTA\D-P instead.

Ill do some more research and post anything i find regarding DIS for windows 10
@enzoR

Try this https://mega.nz/#F!eM5nRD6Q!qELe6ic8bcRydhhlHP_I3A
Just download the dis 7zip file and the installation manual. if you're on windows 10 you'll need VMWorkstation 10 to get it to work.

If anyone else has any other ideas or experiences getting DIS to work with 10, i'd appreciate your chiming in.
enzoR if you're successful plz report back

Yeah, I can try, it's rather large, over 16 files at 4gb a piece, confirmed working on Win 10.

If you have a filehost account you can lend me to upload these on, would be great, otherwise i'd have to use a combo of onedrive and google drive.

Let me know.

Edit: Found out I have some space on Amazon Cloud svcs. Uploading now. Please wait.

@enzoR

Alright guys.

The following two pdf files has hyperlinks to the google drive downloads for Ista\D and ista\p as well as installation instructions.

If google drive fails i have backup links i can share from amazon cloud

I take no credit for compiling the instructions in these PDF's. (original DL links are on the PDF's, if for some reason they fail (they haven't) i will provide replacement link for the zip )

Let me know guys\gals!

Make sure you do it in chronological order (INPA, then ISTA-D, then ISTA-P)

https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/s...zKIHRE0bttjiYFuYKF?ref_=cd_ph_share_link_copy

Edit:

Wish there was a way to put this in my OP, but won't allow me to edit.

following the PDF instructions for ISTA-D, it says if you already have INPA installed, skip to step 40.
However, step 40 is still the standard tools setup. Am I correct that I just need to go to step 58, which is basically create a shortcut of ISTAGUI from the unpacked files?

Thanks.

Is this able to be installed on a Windows Surface 3 Tablet with an SSD(Not the Surface Pro) I tried installing it and got an error when it went through the driver wizard portion. 2 drivers failed to install FTDI CDM Driver Package BUS/D2XX Driver & VCP Driver. Any idea how to resolve this? Should I try a different laptop?

#40 ·
This is very interesting and I've seen this in my research, that for some reason, installation on SSD's fail.

Now, on my initial install, i had the FTDI CDM driver fail as well, but i plugged the cable in and allowed windows to find the drivers and it was fine. You can try that, let me know,.

#41 ·
The driver for the USB serial cable was already installed before I began Mike's Easy BMW Tools setup. I plugging in the cable, set to COM1. All software is installed on desktop, then when I launch INPA it throws an error before it can boot up saying...

"program can't start because api32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I'm guessing OS's running off an SSD is an impossibility? This only works with Windows 7 or higher running an HDD?

#42 ·
It's supposed to work on any Windows 8.1 64bit and higher including Windows 10 with a HDD.

SSD users have reported issues, i don't have a SSD equipped laptop so i didn't have a chance to verify or dispute. You can try on a laptop with HDD and see if it gives you the same result
