Post Fury or JFB - Nokia Logo

Hey I was looking at the old post on the m5 logo. JFB you said you got it to work w/ cingular...what did you get to work? I can't get group graphics but I want either a logo that appears all the time or a startup logo other than "welcome to at&t". Fury - in the pic of your phone w/ the m5 logo: is that what appears when someone in a calling group appears or is that all the time or what? How did you get that to work? I have an 8260 so I can't really use a data cable (i don't want to buy one) but I can send logos via SMS messaging or email, I just don't know how to do other than just caller groups. Thanks for your help! My email addy is dmcgibbo@email.unc.edu

I got the "calling group" graphic to work on a Nokia 8260 using Cingular as the provider. I loaded it through www.supermegaphone.com following the procedure outlined in the thread for which Fury provided the link in his message above.

I do not yet have the ///M logo as the default graphic. Nor have I found an ///M5 logo (just ///M and ///M3). I understand that there are software applications that would easily allow me to create a logo from a .bmp file, but I don't see the point of buying the application when I currently have no way of uploading the logo to the 8260.

Based on Fury's note and what I've seen elsewhere, it appears that the logo has to be uploaded to the phone via either an IR or a cable link. The 8260 has no IR port, and I have not yet found a data cable for the phone. I am on the mailing list for FoneSync to alert me when one becomes available. At that time, I will look into creating a default ///M5 logo.

[BTW - FoneSync is a great way to keep your contacts list on your PIM synchronized with your phone.]

The Cingular rep for my company changed the start up text logo from "Cingular" to my name when she provided the phone to me. She did so via a code entered into the keypad. She did not share the code with me. Thus, I know that it is feasible to change the 8260 welcome screen -- I just don't know the procedure at this time.

Regards.
