Just got my Car!

I just took delivery of my 2001 Lemans Blue M5 yesterday. I just want to say thanks to everyone on this board for providing me with so much great info about the car. Reading your posts over the past few months has really been a great help to me.

Here's a pic of my new baby:

I've been mostly babying the car since I got it yesterday. However I just had a great experience a few minutes ago. I was stopped at a red light when a tricked out Honda Accord pulled up to my left. This would not have drawn my attention but for the fact that there was no lane to my left. The lane to my left had merged in with mine just before the stoplight. (I guess the guy in the Honda thought he'd get around this pokey BMW before merging.) I reacted to this slight as though he had spit in my face.

When the light turned green I must have ******* the gas a little too hard because the back tires broke loose, producing the greatest squealing burnout just before I shifted into second and left the Honda in a puff of smoke in my rearview. The amazing part was that I didn't have the gas pedal anywhere near floored, and the RPM's never came near 5,000. This car is amazing!

Now, I just need to learn how to control the overwhelming power of the beast.

Thanks again, for all of your help guys.

Welcome to the ultimate, ultimate driving world. Your baby looks STUNNING.
Take good care of her and enjoy the thrills to come.
BTW, I kept my DSC on until after the break in - it helped me get used to the traction limits without doing any nasties along the way.

Welcome aboard Kent B,

What a pity you didn't took delivery of your baby one week sooner because I was in San Diego at this time (back to France since then). Looks like the picture was taken on the parking of Seafood market or the Marina ?

Enjoy your new Rocket

Kent,

Enjoy your new toy! She is absolutely stunning!

As we've said before, be careful during breakin! ... there will be plenty of time afterwards to have some "real" fun!!!

I guess I can't say "welcome to the club" yet since I don't have my M5 yet! But I can say congrats on getting your beast! I should be getting mine next month hopefully! And in the same color as yours too!

Thanks for the great picture! I definitely plan to bring my DC when I go pick up my car. I asked the salesman to take pictures as they unload it from the truck!

StallionM5: great idea, I'll ask the salesman to NOT put the front license bracket on. I'll see how far I can go without getting pulled over. I'm not even sure if it's legal not to have front license plates here. I think it isn't.

Welcome to the M5 & Le Mans family Kent B!

Congrats, you're one of the few new owners who posted a pic of his beast with his announcement.

I'm guilty as well, I didn't have a DC at delivery either.

Well.. have you been approached by perfect strangers in gas stations, parking lots, etc.. just wanting to look at your beast?

Get ready.

Best wishes

Max
