Found some old high-res pics of the one and only BMW M5 Touring (E39) made by BMW M. Belongs (or belonged) to BMW M engineering director Gerhard Richter, responsible for engine development at BMW M in Garching, outside Munich.

This was taken during our visit to BMW M and BMW Individual in 2001 which can be found here.

There was also a BMW mechanic (in Atlanta), who built an E39 M5 touring out of a wrecked M5 and an E39 touring.....Black on black IIRC

this is a dream come true ... i knew i couldn't have been the only one that wanted to see or build an M5 Touring. someone with money had to have had the idea, too.

I'm interested in Wagons as well, they're kind of like the ultimate sleeper. I can imagine getting 10 bags of landscaping soil and then making Mustang driver soil his pants about 1,000 feet away from a stoplight.

Interestingly enough, I just read the article in September's Motor Trend that pitted the 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 against the mighty 2005 Mercedes E55 AMG Wagon. Having driven the E55 in sedan form a couple of years ago, I know not to mess with them. They're ungodly fast. Anyway, the Dodge posts times of 0-60 in 5.1 and a quarter mile in 13.1 - not bad! The bad Benz gets to 60 in 4.1 and through the traps at 12.3. That supercharger is pretty incredible.

Thought you might be interested that there are a couple of quick wagons out there.

For practical reasons l may eventually have to to sell my M5.

Had BMW made a touring version i would not have to move to another manufacturer.

As stated before another market missed.
