Does youy MY 2000 Have This?

So, I drop the front belly pan and look and see this part in the picture. It looks out of place, although the texture of the housing looks similar to other undercarriage components.

I was under the assumption that I bought a stock 2000 beast.

Now, my AA CAI arrives, I open it up and darn it, it looks like the same piece. The AA CAI has a tube cut into it at certain points (for the CAI) and a notch in it (for the brake air).

Is this a standard part on the M5? Does yours have it? Did my car have CAI prior to this?

All this was found when I did an oil change, and also cleaned the MAF's. The tubes into the plenum were pretty oily, as were the internals of the MAF cylinder. Hmmmm

Any input?

Re: Does youy MY 2000 Have This?

I don't see any pic, but i'm guessing you're talking about the aluminum brake ducts. Yes, they are standard. I think their purpose (since they're not channeling air on a stock M5) is to hold the belly pan.

(edit: ok, now i see the pic, yeah, that's supposed to be there, as i said above)

If you're finding oil in the mafs and plenum, you have somthing wrong in your breather system. DO a search, i remember some posts, not sure if someone posted a fix.

Yes, the aluminum intake for the brakes is standard, as mottati said.
