Route Suggestions... DC to Tampa

I'm driving from Washington DC to Tampa. Leaving Dec 18.. Need to be in TPA region sometime the 20th.

I-95 is oh so very boring....

Thought I might detour thru Atlanta on the way down... Route suggestions would be appreciated... Always nice to stretch the M5 on some back roads...

Let me know... AAA Triptiks are awaiting... to back up the Nav System...

Re: Route Suggestions... DC to Tampa

Maybe consider a stint on the Blue Ridge Parkway if you can detour off a bit. I agree that I-95 will put you to sleep. If you come through here, let me know

Good luck and safe driving on your trip, Bob.

I've done the I-95 thing for years now and you just can't beat it for making good time. To break up the monotony I would get off at around Jax and head south on 301 all the way to Ocala. The scenery is bound to be better than I-95. Be sure to stop and take in the local flavor the small towns have to offer.

Be safe.

Re: Route Suggestions... DC to Tampa

No offense to blue max, but forget the local flavor of 301. It's bitter. 301 is NOTORIOUS for being filled with speedtraps.. just check AAA.. they have gone to the point of putting up billboards and yellow reflectors on speed limit signs to stop people from getting tickets in these small towns that need the revenue. especially waldo, starke, lawtey.. all three are in a row on the way from jax to gainesville. my preference would be to go through the blue ridge route and come down to tampa through I-75 from atlanta. the roads in NC and SC are definitely beautiful, and I-75 south of Ocala shows the rolling hills of Florida. Just be careful through the construction in Georgia.

Re: Route Suggestions... DC to Tampa

Thanks for all of the input. Got the Valentine One installed over the weekend.. (not suppose to be able to check this out in VA)

Will leave early Saturday morning... heading south... and will hit some of the better roads to Atlanta, and then off to Tampa area.

If there are some significant photo opps..

I'll share...

Thanks again for everyone's help.

Bob

Happy Holidays to all...

Just a quick followup...

Thanks again for all the suggestions...

Arrived at Clearwater Beach last night...

Routes were great... Speed was excessive... OOPS!

The newly installed Valentine1 worked flawlessly....

The Romulons in the E55 were defeated (see other post)... (something about M5s getting heavier as we drive faster...

Thanks again

Bob

Enjoy the (not so) warm Florida weather, but be careful, those Counsel Cruisers sometimes use shuttles at a couple thousand feet above with stop watches....if you see a line across the highway, drop out of warp, you will prob see a couple more..they are spaced at known intervals so warp speed can be easily calculated with a mere stop watch from above....moonroof is helpful for spotting shuttles.......
Regards,
Jerry
