Xenon upgrade

Love this messageboard, reading lots of old threads to catch up.
Greatly enjoying my new (to me) '00 Dinan S2, having sold my '88 E28 M5 earlier this year (no room or budget for both, loved the classic but ready for more). Anyhow, one thing I miss about the 88 is the nightime vision I got from the high (100+W) output Hellas I had fitted. The xenon lamps are nice and bright but don't penetrate as far. Are there aftermarket bulbs for this xenon system that have higher wattage/more candlepower?
Thanks for the expert advice-
Larry

Re: Xenon upgrade

Do you have the Xenons already in your lights? Because if you do, it's entirely likely that they've been used a lot.

Xenons lose about 30-50% of their effectiveness at 50% of their life span. You have several options:

1) replace the unit with a new headlight assembly from OE (Hella) we'll soon carry these for lower prices than anyone

2) replace the D2S bulbs with new ones (ballasts are usually fine) - this is relatively easy
a) you can choose OE - 4300K
b) you can choose 6000K D2S or 8000K D2S from us as well <-- reduction in light output traded for increase in visual color.

3) Replace these units with a Projector39 that we offer but are currently out of stock on.

'00 Dinan S2 <-- while implying it's an M5, also doesn't change the fact that he MAY have had it changed out at Dinan. Just covering all the bases.

Re: Xenon upgrade

I put some 100W bulbs in my highbeams and they helped a good bit.

100W ?? Won´t it burn the interior of the headlights? Isnt the normal config 55W ?
I use the Osram SilverStar Bulbs and they say more 50% of light and its true!
The problem is that a Xenon Bulb like Philips 4000K lasts for 2000h use and a halogen last for 300h...

Here in portugal they sell xenon kits for 800€!!!
At ebay.de I can find kits from philips at 175€!
Do you know if I can get it any cheeper?

Thanks

300ish? Does it come with everything? 4000k bulbs D2S and balasts?
I use H7 bulbs so it needs to be a conversion for that!
And the balasts can be more than 10cm x 10cm of size!

Cheers!

Re: Xenon upgrade

yes, H7s no problem 10cm in size, hmm, would have to measure, but I'm pretty sure ours are that big.
