Tip for Changing license plate bulbs.
I had to do that recently. It's easy once you ignore the directions. First open the trunk to get a good working angle. Use a medium blade screw driver, put it at the left edge of the plastic part (not in the slot), and push it right. It should easily push right 1/8 inch (the manual says push left). Then use the screw driver to pop the left edge away from the metal area. Once the left side is loose, it is pretty easy to work the assembly out of the hole. If you have a license plate frame, you may have to remove the plate first.
