not sure of the brands you mention, but for the e39 there are activated charcoal cabin filters and plain paper filters. Of course the charcoal filters cost more, but probably are more effective at eliminating odors etc.

While we're on the subject of filters, have any thoughts or opinions about K&N replacement filters? Not quite ready for CAI type yet? Seen lots of debates on this, some even stating damages to MAFS can occur.

Thanks Ashok, glad to be part of the family. Being a new owner of a beast, got a question that's been debated for quite some time but seeing how you've been around what's your take on K&N replacement filters for the M5? Worth it? Not ready for a CAI yet.
I'd say the k&n replacement filters aren't worth it. You won't gain any real hp, and you can potentially have oil issues for the MAFS. Stick with the stock bmw filters for best filtration.
